After years of careful planning Lourdes High School completed a beautiful new school that is set-up to better address the dynamic educational expectations of today. The campus, located on a new 24-acre site in northwest Rochester offers a distinct difference from the old downtown location, which previously served as a high school since 1941.
The 167,500 square foot facility accommodates the current enrollment of 479 students in grades 9-12, but could house more than 525 students with room for future expansion. From a design standpoint, the spacious courtyard in front of the school’s entrance, combined with the interior open spaces provides a newfound campus feel. The wide ‘arc-like’ campus shape provides three main sections: athletics on one end of the campus, academics in the center, and fine arts on the other end with worship adjoining.
A few structural design features include the unique geometry of the chapel’s curved roof with tower; the exposed timber trusses at the entry; and the partially sunken gym that leveraged the site grade.
